My dog Pirate is so needy. He can really drive me crazy with his behavior; whining, following me and constantly under foot. I found myself losing patience with his destitute conduct the other day. Then, I caved! I allowed him to sit on my lap while I was working. Instantly, he calmed down. As a rescue dog, he needs constant reassuring. All he wanted was to be near me and feel my love. The Holy Spirit convicted me then and there.
So often we are too busy to spend time with those we love or those who need love. God wants us to care for each other, to forgive and encourage one another. My little dog provides me with love, companionship and comfort, all he wants in return is the same. It took nothing more on my part than to let him come to me.
We have the poor or needy all around us; poor in spirit, finances and health. Let us arise with the Lord and place them in the safety that they long for. Find a charity, friend or animal in need, give them your time, you won’t regret it.
